Avery Morris is a Montreal based artist whose illustration, animation and fashion practice is centred in storytelling. Their paintings, video art, and costumes have been showcased in exhibitions, concerts, and performances across provinces. Their solo show ‘Cousin’s’ (2025) at Centre for Art Tapes in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Their self-taught animation practice synthesizes various tactile, digital, and sonic elements, often layering chalk pastels, pen, collage with drawings animated on the Nintendo DSi. Their animations have become looping visuals for fashion shows, concerts and music videos.

Their background studying textiles and equitable agricultural policy informs their work as a farmer and seamstress  as they cultivate, dye, weave and sew with various textile plants like indigo, sumac, oak, flax, cotton and denim. 

Collaboration is a central to their work–they have designed and created costumes for HEIST and Ships Company Theatre and animations and visuals for The Veldt Cuerpos Bodies, the Lonely Parade, Growing ARC, Khyber Centre for the Arts, the NSCAD Queer Collective and Centre for Art Tapes.
